Exceptional and very rare erotic sculpture of 'Leda and the Swan', from a private collection.
The work is based on a high relief Greek mythological sculpture in which the scene represents Zeus when he turns into a swan and Leda is seduced by Zeus and they consummate the sexual act. The author of the original Greek work is unknown.
This sculpture is based on the painting by Ingres. It is made of solid bronze and an identical and also unsigned copy is on display at the Erotic Museum in Amsterdam. This documentation can be found on page 84 of the book 'The temple of Venus' by Hans-Jürgen Döpp. In the photographs you can see the book and the page dedicated to this sculpture.
This is certainly a very rare sculpture and there is no other record of it on the internet except for the existing and catalogued specimen in the collection of the Museum of Sex.
The sculpture is completely made of bronze, weighing more than 2 kg and produced around the beginning of the 20th century.
It can be seen that the patina has been cleaned on some occasions previously, but its condition is excellent.
Undoubtedly a unique work for collectors of ancient erotic art.
I also have the book where the sculpture is documented and I can study the sale of it but by private sale outside the Etsy platform. It cannot be included in the sale of the item since the volumetric weight of the package greatly increases the shipping price.
