Antique figure of a satyr faun with ram head made of glazed ceramic with green and black gradients designed and produced by Arne Bang in the late 1920s.
Arne Bang studied with the sculptor Niels Hansen before attending the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen between 1920 - 1925 and later graduated between 1928 - 1929. From 1926 to 1928 he had a ceramic workshop together with Carl Halier 1873-1948 in Fensmark. Shortly afterwards, A. Bang worked with his brother Jacob E. Bang (1899-1965) and participated in the Danish pavilion at the 1925 Paris Decorative Arts Exhibition.
After this, A. Bang was hired to set up a ceramic production at the Holemegaard glassworks in Holme Olstrup near Naestved. At the beginning of his work at Holemegaard, his short and exclusive artistic production was signed HG for Holmegaard, but later, in the early 1930s, he used his own monogram AB. This production began in 1940 and ended in 1951.
His works are now highly sought after and rare, but the few existing pieces with the H.G monogram from the decade 1925 to 1929 are very rare and difficult to find.
The offered item is a rarity. His unique faun with a ram's head and legs, later known by the later AB monograms, but in this case it is one of his first units produced in the Holemegaard factory with his signature and initials H.G.
Without a doubt a very rare and highly collectible piece for connoisseurs.
The figure is in very good condition with minimal signs of age.
Stamps on the base.
