Small Japanese style vase or 'Japonais' model 'Violettes' from the early period of the brothers Auguste and Antonin Daum (Daum Frères) before they perfected their technique and were influenced by the art nouveau japonism style. Their production was only between the periods of 1890 and 1900.
Uranium coloured glass and carefully hand carved and hand polychrome flowers. This is an extremely rare model.
The vase is in excellent condition with no chips but with discoloration of the gold paint on the edge of the upper mouth of the vase. This is normal over time. Micro bubbles inside from the manufacturing process.
There is no signature on the bottom. The signature may have been in gold and it has been erased due to wear and tear over time or simply because a few examples from the beginning of Daum production were not signed. Also, Daum items sold to employees of the Daum factory were also not signed; as were unfinished models or models with defects (due to internal bubbles, poor carving or other defects). These models were known as second factory (Factory 2nd).
