A beautiful penguin figure with a hand-carved wooden body and flippers, beak and feet in chrome-plated steel. It is a very similar design to a Karl Hagenauer example ca. 1930. The figure has no attribution marks and the base is not original. It is a modern aluminum plate adapted so that the figure can stand upright.
The wood has several paint chips and cracks in the paint dried by the passage of time. The chrome-plated steel parts have the patina of the years and have not been cleaned.
